The Nurses on Boards Coalition

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and AARP joined forces to form The Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC) in 2014, as a direct response to the landmark 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. NOBC brought together national nursing and other organizations to work at an unprecedented level toward achieving the goal to improve the health of communities and the nation, through the service of nurses on boards, by advancing at least 10,000 nurses on boards by 2020. Boards, including health related corporate, non-profit, advocacy, governance, panels, commissions, and other strategy and policy decision-making bodies increasingly benefit from the unique perspective of nurses to achieve the goals of improved health and efficient and effective healthcare systems at the local, state, and national levels.

The Nurses on Boards Coalition gratefully acknowledges a generous grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in fulfilling its mission.
