This System Invitational returned to the theme of innovation. The need for innovation has never been greater in healthcare, as the status quo is not sustainable. This System Invitational assisted health system executives, boards of directors, and clinical leaders in wrestling with the challenges associated with innovation.

Balancing Mission & Margin in an Era of Accountable Care, Insights from the Fall 2013 System Invitational   →

This meeting focused on how health systems grappling with the ACA can continue to balance a health system’s core purpose—its mission—with the need to generate revenues in excess of expenses—the margin. This event focused on the many issues that managing this balance entails for health system executives, boards of directors, and clinical leaders.

This event  covered a timely topic: how to respond to the realities of the Affordable Care Act. In particular, the meeting focused on the critical, evolving role of boards in an era of reform. It featured faculty at the frontier of thinking in this area.

This event focused on a critical imperative as healthcare systems transition from treating individual sickness to managing population health—the need for constant or even accelerated innovation that simultaneously improves quality and reduces costs. The meeting featured faculty who are at the frontier of innovation in the healthcare arena.

Critical Leadership Challenges at the Dawn of Value-Based Care: Insights from the 2012 Chairperson, CEO, & Physician Leader Conference   →

 June 3–5, 2012,  The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs, CO

This event addressed the tremendous need for strong leadership capable of transforming hospitals and health systems during turbulent times characterized by an uncertain future. Speakers focused on leadership’s role in executing a variety of needed transformations, including implementing new models of medical education and training, transitioning from volume- to value-based payments, changing organizational culture, and implementing major change.

Strategic Health System Imperatives: Demonstrating Value, Driving Quality, and Improving Population Health through Innovative Leadership: Insights from the Spring 2012 System Invitational   →

 March 4–6, 2012, Fairmont  Washington, D.C.

This meeting addressed the need to move from volume to value, including how to deal with the transition from volume- to value-based payments. Topics included forming a clinically integrated network, taking quality to the next level, improving population health, shifting payment techniques, the need to fix the Medicare program, and transforming medical education.
