Rulon F. Stacey, Ph.D., FACHE
Managing Director, Navigant Leadership Institute
During his career Dr. Stacey has served as the CEO of multiple hospitals and health systems. His background includes being the CEO of Fairview Health System, University of Colorado Health, and Poudre Valley Health System (PVHS) in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Under his leadership, the President of the United States announced in 2008 that PVHS was the only healthcare organization in the country to receive that year’s prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s highest presidential recognition for performance excellence. Poudre Valley was also the first ever recipient of the highest level award in Colorado performance excellence and still the only multiple recipient of that award.
In 2011, Dr. Stacey was elected by his peers as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the 46,000 member American College of Healthcare Executives. Additionally in 2012 and 2014, Dr. Stacey was listed by Modern Healthcare Magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people in healthcare in the United States.
In May of 2015, Dr. Stacey was invited by the Secretary of the United States Department of Commerce to fill a second consecutive term as the Chair of the Board of Overseers for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In 2015 he also accepted an appointment by the International Hospital Federation (IHF) as the Chair of the IHF CEO Circle. He is also currently on faculty at the prestigious M.H.A. program of the University of Minnesota. Dr. Stacey began his role of Managing Director at Navigant Leadership Institute in March of 2016.
Dr. Stacey earned a Bachelor degree in economics and a Masters degree in health administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He also holds a Ph.D. in health policy from the University of Colorado.
