James A. Diegel, M.S.H.S.A., FACHE

James Diegel has over 27 years of experience as a hospital and health system C-Suite executive in the international, rural, and metropolitan markets; including 19 years as a CEO. He has served on the board of trustees of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems as well as numerous national, state, regional, and local boards and commissions, including elective office in Redmond, Oregon. James is a senior fellow with the Health Research and Educational Trust of the AHA, a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and a board leadership fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He is also a former member of The Governance Institute editorial board.

James is a certified individual and organizational coach and is currently a doctoral student in public health. He maintains a private consulting and coaching practice with a focus on leadership, governance, and cultural transformation. James has an interest in the importance of the upstream social determinants of health and the role health systems play in community development.
