More and more research is showing that high-performing hospital and health system boards are critical to the performance and quality of their organizations. The Governance Institute surveys the nation’s non-profit acute care hospital and health system boards every other year to determine how these boards are structured, how they spend their time in board meetings, and their opinion of their performance in key governance areas. The data shows an essential picture of board performance over time, including trends and areas of opportunity to improve.

This Webinar will begin with an introduction to and a summary overview of The Governance Institute’s 2015 biennial survey, 21st Century Care Delivery, Governing in the New Healthcare Industry. We will discuss key findings, characteristics of an “average” board, areas of greatest concern and opportunity for boards, board adherence to governance best practices, and the Intentional Governance framework for high performing boards.

After viewing this Webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe, at a high level, the trends in hospital system and hospital board structure and practices.
  • Discuss the areas of greatest concern and opportunity for health system and hospital boards.
  •  Identify and understand the elements within the Intentional Governance framework necessary for a high performing board.

This 60-minute program will include a live question/answer session.
