Preparing for Change—with or without “Healthcare Reform” Part II

Preparing for Change—with or without “Healthcare Reform”
Part II

Participants in the CEO roundtable discussed the following questions:

  • What types of preparations has your organization taken or is considering to address lower reimbursements or new payment schemes (e.g., bundled payments)? For example, have you: modeled the impact of a Medicare rate for all patients? Cut back capital spending? Accelerated alignment efforts with doctors? Considered/begun mergers/alliances? Developed new delivery models for primary care? For some specialty services?
  • What resistance have you incurred or do you anticipate?
  • If Congress does not enact major reforms, what do you think will happen at your state and local market level?
  • What sort of feedback have you received from community leaders about the possible impact of healthcare reform?
  • In what way will your hospital/system be different next year compared to now?
