General Session
New Challenges in Changing Times Joseph S. Bujak, M.D., FACP, Vice President, Medical Affairs, Kootenai Medical Center
Todd Sagin, M.D., J.D., Principal, HG Healthcare Consultants, LLC
Faculty will outline the dramatic changes affecting the roles of physician executives and how the evolving nature of the 21st century medical staff is creating new challenges. The summit will focus on addressing the specific issues, identified by participants in advance, that they are currently struggling with in their executive roles. The discussion will include:
• Challenges in finding new medical staff leaders.
• Managing changing ED call demands.
• Developing the leadership skills of the voluntary medical staff.
• Dealing with the recruitment dilemmas posed by a growing shortage of doctors.
• Tensions created by the growth in hospital employment of physicians.
All discussions will be highly interactive to help meet an important goal of this program: to provide participants with a network of colleagues who are dealing with similar challenges in their professional careers. The faculty will bring their combined six decades of experience as physician executives to these conversations.
