To customize a self-assessment process for your board, a Governance Advisor will typically:
- Interview the board chair, CEO, and chair of the governance committee.
- Review relevant governance documents to understand your organization’s current governance structure, policies, practices, and culture.
- Advise on any tailored questions to be added to the survey instrument.
- Analyze the BoardCompass™ results and offer insights or recommendations.
- Design and facilitate a stand-alone board self-assessment retreat (up to one day in length) or integrate the self-assessment into the board’s annual retreat.
- Assist the board during the retreat in developing a plan for continuous improvement.
- Remain available to assist the board and CEO on follow-up implementation of the improvement plan.
